[XeTeX] Extra text with itemize? "(0).fd (0).fd ..."

I'm not sure this can help, but a possibility is to use "list"  
instead of "itemize"; something like:

\begin{list}{—}{}
	\item
	\item
\end{list}

which doesn't require "xunicode". In the second pair of braces you  
can write the character you want instead of the "em dash" I'm using  
myself.
