Well, since it's your font, you should know what's inside it, so we'll
leave the question of how to find which features are possible in which
font to the philosophers.

This quoted problem above I'm trying to solve in a fairly
straightforward manner, starting off with my hoefler.sty package. It
defines commands such as \textsw for swash italics and \textscsl (not
so uncommon) for italic small caps (and \textscsw for swashed italic
small caps, which also come in bold - !). Clearly LaTeX is struggling
to an extent to keep up, but I doubt it's necessary to switch between
the different founts all that often in a document.

I wonder if I shouldn't go against tradition and change small caps to a
family rather than a shape declaration. It'd make a lot more sense. I
reckon I will.

Will
