[XeTeX] xetex and graphics: strange behavior

The following is typeset ok:


\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[xetex]{graphicx}
\begin{document}
test
\includegraphics[width=0.8\textwidth]{filename.pdf}
\end{document}

The following fails:

\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[xetex]{graphicx}
\begin{document}
test
\includegraphics[width=1.2\textwidth]{filename.pdf}
\end{document}

  I get endless running unreadables
][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][ 
][][][]
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] 
[][][][

There is no problem with pdftex in both cases. What's wrong ?
