Most certainly; several times, at different sizes,
to compare the tracings.
Anyway, your latest version (.51) solves the problem:

The above test was in fact with a rebuilt xelatex.xfmt ,
but I've tested also with the older build, and it works as well.
There's quite some difference in the sizes:
-rw-r--r-- 1 rossmoor staff 1373030 28 Apr 22:24 xelatex50.xfmt
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 1630590 30 Apr 23:35 xelatex51.xfmt
The xelatex50 version was from your distro.,
whereas xelatex51 was compiled locally.
