UK TUG Project Funding

Dear UKTUG member,

You will probably recall that the UKTUG committee issued a call for
proposals for TeX related projects to fund. A copy of this call for
proposals is attached. A sub-committee has been established to
identify projects that the members would like to support, and we're
emailing you now to ask for your help in judging the merit of two
recently received applications for funding from UKTUG. We have a total
sum of £5000 allocated for project funding.

Copies of the following two proposals are attached:

1) An application to support the TeXWorks project from Jonathan Kew
2) An application to support stage 3 of the TeX Gyre project.

In order for the sub-committee to use the funds we have available to
best support UKTUG members, we need your input and thoughts on these
proposals. In particular, we would be interested to know for your
opinions on the following for each proposal:

a) should UKTUG fund this project?
b) how much money should we offer?
c) is it important and relevant to you and other UKTUG members?
d) is the project likely to achieve its aims?
e) is the project is timely and relevant?

We would welcome any other comments you may have. We would also
welcome suggestions of expert referees for each proposal i.e. names of
people we might approach for an expert opinion on the proposals.

We would like to make a decision on these two particular proposals
during the week of March 17th, and so we ask you to send any comments
you have by March 15th. Please email your comments to
uktug-funding at uk.tug.org (you should be able to simply reply to this
email).

Finally, we would like to mention that we welcome further project
funding proposals, and we hope that we will receive more in the
future.
