Many thanks to all regarding the `Book Class' heading
numbering scheme.
 Thanks especially to CV Radhakrishnan.Info most
helpful.

 One important item I'd like to query on is the
Default settings for the different Document Classes. 

 How does one determine, what the default parameters
are, in order to have some guidelines before tweaking?
I know the Koma-Script package contains a bundle, but
German userguide !!

 I am using Win98SE,with MikTeX and WinEdt
