I was away at Aligarh and so I could not respond to 
the mails.  I have tried \pagedissolve{<option>} and
it works correctly.  As pointed out by CVR, the forward
slash mentioned in the manual, is to be omitted (i.e.
use Glitter and not /Glitter).  Also such page transitions
occur only when we use the FULL SCREEN mode for the
pdf file.
