preview-latex is ok for short quotes (though most preprocessor-based
schemes will need special support).  That is, it will be fine if I
write an English paper about the Indian language, or some Indian
literature.

But if the main matter is Indian, it would not really work
convincingly.  In that case, a better path to pursue would be to find
some Sanskrit screen fonts for Emacs, and use a system like cjk-enc
for writing out the transliterations on the fly.
