[Tugindia] cross references.

Hi,
I want to change the way the crossreference to figures,tables, equations
etc work. Suppose we 
have a label \label{myfig}.  If I refer to it elsewhere with \ref{myfig}
I would like latex 
to put just the corresponding figure number(as it happens now)  if the
the \ref occurs in the same page as the
one in which the figure appears. In addition, if the reference appears
in a different page I want latex to
say some thing like `<figurenumber> on page number <pagenumber>'.  Right
now,
I use \pageref command after finalising the manuscript. Is this
possible?
