Arggg, before porting *anything* have you ever ever ever installed
TeX Live yourself and checked how formats are build and all the
stuff?
How do you think porting works? By *not* knowing the basics of the
system?
BTW, JFY, why don't you run *once* fmtutil through bash -x to see
what is going wrong, you would have easily found that problem.
BTW II, if you *ONLY* build from texlive source.tar.xz, you will
*NOT* get *ANYTHING* working. You *NEED* the files distributed as
least in Master/texmf/ at least, but probably a lot from
Master/texmf-dist, too. You need to know what you want.
Best wishes
Norbert

EPWORTH (n.)
The precise value of the usefulness of epping (q.v.) it is a
little-known fact than an earlier draft of the final line of the film
Gone with the Wind had Clark Gable saying 'Frankly my dear, i don't
give an epworth', the line being eventually changed on the grounds
that it might not be understood in Cleveland.
