Can you please try the following:

* unpack the self update only
	mkdir SOMEDIR
	sh update-tlmgr-latest.sh --noexec --target SOMEDIR
* cd into SOMEDIR
	cd SOMEDIR
* run the actual script under -x and capture output
	sh -x runme.sh 2>&1 | tee runme.log
* send the runme.log output

There one should see what is going wrong ..
