A question similar to what I asked about xindy:

asymptote also tries to locate some existing TeX programs. In a clean
system, their absence is obviously not fatal. On the other hand, if
placed in, say TL2009 environment, asymptote's configure does the
following:

checking for texi2dvi... no
checking for texi2dvi4a2ps... no
configure: Using /usr/local/texlive/2009/../texmf-local/tex/latex/asymptote for LaTeX style file
configure: Using /usr/local/texlive/2009/../texmf-local/tex/context/third/asymptote for ConTeXT style file

What should we do for TL2010? To back the asymptote build with TL2010
pretest install?
