Ok, I have just uploaded first set of binaries (r16902) with xindy-new
instead of the old one. The appropriate texmf subtree is provided as
well (scripts patched for module dir), with instructions for those
willing to test new xindy:

So, anyone who can, please give it a try.

(Unfortunately, what I reported for .so dependencies was wrong because
 --with-clisp-runtime was set incorrectly. The best results are still
achieved with clisp built as described on TeX Live website.)
