it was not, but i've installed it on both solaris and aix, so it's not a
problem for me if you change the way how fontconfig-related CFLAGS and
LDFLAGS are handled.

on AIX:

$ pkg-config fontconfig --cflags
-I/opt/freeware/include  
$ pkg-config fontconfig --libs

on Solaris:

$ pkg-config fontconfig --cflags
-I/opt/csw/include  
$ pkg-config fontconfig --libs  
-L/opt/csw/lib -lfontconfig
