The complete build log is attached.  By the way, the build of TL2008 on 
cygwin required several patches in order to build xetex.  I applied the 
same patches to the current (TL2009) source.  But, in order to avoid 
confusing the issue, I thought I should first try to build 
--without-xetex.  In spite of that, the build log shows a lot of work 
involving icu/icu-xetex.  Is this normal?  Could this in any way be 
related to the failures above?
