I am currently typesetting an honours board for a bowls club of
which I am a member, and the board (which is 244,5 cm x 122,5 cm)
will be partially masked by a mitred 5cm wide moulding. To check
that none of my typeset text or rules intrude into the 5 cm wide
notional border, I dragged TeXworks rulers to approximately the
correct positions and then double-clicked on each to read (and
adjust, if necessary) its position. The top and left rulers were
close, and easily corrected to exactly 5cm, but the right and
bottom, although visually in about the correct place, both
reported that they were at 99.9900 cm, which they were clearly not.
Pdf attached which can be opened in TeXworks previewer for
experiment.
