So the current "development version" of TeXworks should work as
intended. Could you perhaps check?

That is excellent news, but could you please tell me how to
download "the current 'development version' of TeXworks ? I do
not understand Github, its web interface never seems to tell me
what I need to know, and when I search the web for the most recent
version of TeXworks I am told that the version I run (0.6.6
("github") [r.24442ac 11/03/2021 10:03]) is the latest ....
the feature request: as you may have noticed (from me not
committing/posting much recently) I currently have extremely
little time to work on TeXworks, unfortunately. I hope this will
get better eventually, but if someone else wants to implement this
feature request (or others) in the meantime and send a pull
request that is always welcome!

Understood. I fear I know the answer in advance, but may I ask
in what programming language TeXworks is written ? There are some
in which I am reasonably proficient, but 'C' is most definitely
not one of them ...
