This is probably caused by a bug in the syntax highlighting/spell
checking code that has recently been fixed. Could you try again with the
latest version of TeXworks from
https://bintray.com/texworks/Windows-latest/TeXworks-for-Windows%3Alatest#files
and see if the problem is gone?
