Hi Norbert,

thanks for the data and the screenshot. In fact, the toolbar icons also 
seem to have poor quality.

Are you using a high dpi ("Retina") screen?

Can you test if setting the environment variable 
QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR to either 0 or 1 changes anything? (from 
http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/highdpi.html)

In addition, the indicated "100%" magnification seems to give a rather 
small page (although that depends on your physical screen size, of 
course). Can you check under Edit > Preferences > Preview > Screen 
resolution that the ruler actually shows (somewhat) physical dimensions? 
What is the dpi value? [Changing this should only make the indicated 
zoom level more accurate and not change the rendering of fonts, but it 
might give an indication as to what's going on]
