[texworks] line numbers Merge and text disappears

I've struck the not able to submit issues  as well, (click submit and
the attached image disappears but the text is still in the edit box
waiting to be sent),  so *here*  goes ...

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. normal .tex document
2. using line numbers as ususal
3. text appears to disappear in editor - line numbers merge

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Line number appear as is overprinted on each other

Although whole paragraphs of text disappear, other text editors can
see them, and they appear in the produced .pdf (pdflatex)

The missing paragraph(s) before and after sometimes have no LaTeX
markup in them at all.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Nothing I can spot is different when this happens.
