[texworks] Beamer running very slowly

Dear TexWorks wizards,
   I am trying to make a presentation using the Beamer class. When I first compiled the document, Texworks asked my permission to install Beamer (as well as a few other packages - I can't remember which). After that, my file compiles correctly, but it takes an extremely long time to do so. I am using MixTex 2.8 under Windows 7. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
