[texworks] Compose Unicode under Linux

I’m used to directly inserting Unicode characters in programs by
composing them; e.g., to type the ellipsis character “…”, I hit
Ctrl+Shift+u, then the Unicode code point (2026), then space.

Under Windows, I’d type Alt+(Numpad)0133 for the same character, and
that works under TeXworks, but the Linux compose does not.  Is there a
way to make it work?
