[texworks] "memory could not be read" error

Strange. Are you sure TeXworks can't be used as PDF file viewer? On OS
X it can, I just tried (ie dropping a random PDF file onto it). There
are some warnings issued to the console, but they're harmless and the
user doesn't see them, I only saw them because I opened Console.app to
check:

That said, the original poster's request was different and mentioned
compiling (a .tex input file in the Source window most likely),
generating PDF output and then attempting to open this output (in the
Preview window most likely):

Though not 100% sure, I would interpret this as normal TeXworks
operation: open an input file in the Source window, typeset it and
then view the result in the Preview window. And interpret the bug
report as "memory could not be read" error, followed by program crash,
when the Preview window is opened.
