Just info:

recent versions of TeXworks use Synctex, version 1.2.

Meanwhile, the official Synctex site contains the version 1.6
http://itexmac.sourceforge.net/SyncTeXPackage.zip in which some bugs
are corrected.

And the developers of SumatraPDF
http://blog.kowalczyk.info/software/sumatrapdf/develop.html use even
the version 1.7 of Synctex in which various problems with parsing
paths with spaces etc. are resolved.
