Ah i see now. When I get an error I read it and press CTRL+T to
dismiss. Never do I press 'x' or 'q'.

2 ideas:

a) CTRL+T when output window is open, does the 'x' or 'q' for you?
b) Stop CTRL+T from dismissing the output window.

Thoughts
