Looking closer at these pages, it seems the guy who wrote the first has actually written a whole series of blog posts on the topic, like

	https://eclecticlight.co/2016/10/01/using-the-logs-in-sierra-some-practical-tips/

ending up with one

	https://eclecticlight.co/2018/10/12/how-to-use-the-unified-log-to-see-whats-going-wrong/

that describes a free Consolation.app he has written for a user-friendly way of extracting information from Console logs

	https://eclecticlightdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2017/09/consolation24rela.zip (Sierra and High Sierra)

https://eclecticlightdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2018/11/consolation3b17.zip (Sierra, High Sierra and Mojave)

See

	https://eclecticlight.co/downloads/

it's described about 40% down the page.

Like Herb knows (we spoke of Onyx several times), I'm not a big fan of system add-ons, apps that may alter the carefully tailored macOS behavior, or that are just adding candy (read a nice GUI) to something that the OS already does (possibly requiring the command-line).

But this particular app might be worth a try.
