I guess I'm still curious about any feedback authors have on the
approaches to getting bibtex entries. 

There are common posts on the zotero forum about this site or that
site does not work well. This is to be expected, TooBib
has problems too, but I'm not sure the users have much freedom
to look at all the ways to get a bibtex entry. AFAICT the
zotero design is a lot of "shiny objects" with all the trendy
features but not a robust way to get the bibtex. 
 TooBib is just designed to find the available bibtex entries
and may be useful for some zoterro users.  

Apparently zotero is written in or around node- I hated node  although
I'm using wscat as a temp way to talk to headless chrome :)
 TooBib is just
c++ code although a lot of the hard work is delegated to linux/cygwin
utilities for now and headless chrome is used for fetch where 
sites require it. Just from their online intro, it sounds like
they have a lot of dedicated "translators" and I'm not sure
it is designed to "hack" much lol. If anything I wish TooBib
could do more trials and rank results better but just taking
"all" or the first good one is mostly working.
