Oblique cancellation with plain TeX

it works for me with cancel.sty that starts
% cancel.sty  version  2.2  12-Apr-2013.
I don't think I have changed the graphics-pln in years (autopict.sty from
2001 being the last change I think)
stick \tracingall at the top of the file and send me the log off list, I'll
have a look
