You can use spanish (or portuguese or german or ...) characters directly.

Try this:

Most of the ISO 8859 latin alphabets are supported.

Subject: [texhax] Latex in spanish and using the spell check

I would like to write latex files in spanish.

Previously to get ó I used \'o.

Then I installed babel and it seems that instead I can get ó with ´o.

So to write población I have to write poblaci'on (with babel) or
poblaci\'on. (without babel)

However when I use spell check in the tex file, both poblaci'on and
poblaci\'on will be highlighted as incorrectly spelt words (even
though they are correct in the .pdf file)

It would be great if I could use the standard spanish keyboard to
type letters such as ó in the tex file to faciliate spell checking.
Is this possible???
