Aside from the excellent suggestions made by Reinhard and 
Juergen, you might consider programming the diagram directly in 
PostScript if you are mathematically inclined.  You should be 
able to directly implement the underlying mathematical symmetry 
of your diagram as a simple recursive PostScript procedure. 

Bill Casselman has written an excellent book on using PostScript 
for mathematical illustrations.  It is available online at
