[texhax] Paragraph spacing

Hi,

Using \documentclass[11pt,openany]{book} for a document, I have picked
up an odd problem. The spacing between paragraphs (using \paragraph{})
is getting bigger and bigger the longer the document gets. 

Any help to solve this issue, or decrease the spacing, will be greatly
appreciated.
