[texhax] TeX

Do either of the TUG TeX software distributions (TeX Collection
2004, TeX Live 2004) work on (or been tested on) SUSE Linux
    Professional 9.3?

I don't know that they have been explicitly tested under that particular
version of suse, but I don't know of any reason why they would not
work. The i386-linux binaries are linked against fairly old versions of
libc, so just about anything reasonable should be ok.

I strongly advise installing in its own directory, eg,
/usr/local/texlive2004. Don't try to overwrite or somehow make use of
any version of tex that might come with suse. That way lies madness.

FYI, TL 2004 is part of TC 2004; TC also includes protext and the CTAN
snapshot. http://tug.org/texlive/texcollection.html.

Good luck,
