[texhax] Index of a book

Hi, I need help to reformat the index of my book. I use a standard book
class to write a book. Here are the first few lines of my document.
\documentclass[fleqn,11pt,openany]{book}%
\usepackage{makeidx}
\usepackage{graphicx}
\usepackage{amsmath}
\usepackage{amsfonts}
\usepackage{amssymb}
\usepackage[authoryear,sort]{natbib}
\usepackage{rotating}

  I generated a list of indices of the book, which is two-column. Is there a
way to force the index to be in one-column only since I have some long
entries?
  Thanks. JQ Sun
