Dear Alain,

I would suggest downloading MiKTeX (go to ) and the shell program TeXnicCenter
(install MiKTeX first, then download TXC from and
install it --- it will find and configure your MiKTeX installation;
then you will have just to run TXC, type your text and press Ctrl+F7
to make the result and then F5 to see it).

To get the first knowledge about LaTeX, read a wonderful introduction
text The Not So Short Introduction to LaTeX which can be obtained in
many languages from
This was the text which put me from the total ignorance of what TeX
was at all, to the work.
