[tex4ht] tex4ht and RTL

Can TeX4ht handle RTL LaTeX documents or if not, would you be willing to
add support for RTL. My attempts so far have failed. Consider the following
minimal example:

\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{xepersian}
\begin{document}
این یک آزمایش است.
\end{document}

after running  xtxelatex on this, I get:

No file test.aux.
(/usr/local/texlive/2011/texmf-dist/tex/latex/tipa/t3cmr.fd)
! You can't use `\relax' after \the.
\NoHtmlEnv ....0pt\ht:everypar {\the \ht:everypar
                                                  }
