TeX live-rs,

I discover some strange behavior. If I compile the minimal file
"hb-bof.tex" with pdflatex belonging to TeX Live 2023, I got the
message

(\end occurred when \ifx on line 2 was incomplete)

at the process's end. If I compile with pdflatex from TeX Live
2021, this message disappears. This seems to be related to the
"ltugproc" class, because if I replace it by "article", this
message also disappear. But I performed a "diff" of the 2
versions of this class: only the dates are different.
All the best,
