Ah, no, I think you misunderstood (or I explained myself badly). I am not in the least concerned that neither "tlmgr" nor "tlmgr --gui" did anything useful, since they are not exposed in the "Start" menu and I was simply seeking some way to attempt an upgrade
after initial install. </blockquote>

However, I thought that I should at least give "tlmgr" another try, so I consulted the embedded "help" and learned :<br>

Two notable GUI front-ends for "tlmgr", "tlshell" and "tlcockpit",<br>

"tlmgr" itself has a graphical interface as well as the command line<br>

with an action to be brought directly into the respective screen of<br>
