In trying to get TeXstudio to recognize my texlive(2025) installation I
continually run into
this error:
kpathsea: Running mktexfmt pdflatex.fmt
/usr/local/texlive/2025/bin/x86_64-linux/mktexfmt: kpsewhich
-var-value=TEXMFROOT failed, aborting early. BEGIN failed--compilation
aborted at /usr/local/texlive/2025/bin/x86_64-linux/mktexfmt line 25.
Process exited with error(s)
This message comes from /usr/local/texlive/2025/bin/x86_64-linux/fmutil
I am wondering whether my version of that file is corrupt. Could you
please send me your
installation's version of this file so I can compare ?
I don't speak perl, but my sense of the first few lines (from which the
error comes) is that if the value of
$TEXMFROOT does not match what kpsewhich -var-value=TEXMFROOT returns,
then die (which it does).
I have run export TEXMFROOT=/usr/local/texlive/2025 -- the value
returned by that kpsewhich clause,
but this has had no effect.
Thanks
Greg Bennett
