I'm glad to know that. TeXworks is done by Jonathan Kew, the same
TeXguru that has given us XeTeX. As the TeXworks web page states,

     «It is deliberately modeled on Dick Koch's award-winning
      TeXShop for Mac OS X».

Very good. TeXLive by the Linux repositories are something to be
thankful about, but with the TUG distribution you have the latest
packages. Also, TUG TeXLive is the upstream for the Linux distributions.

https://mirror.ctan.org/systems/texlive/tlnet is a mechanism that

     «Tell tlmgr to use a nearby CTAN mirror for future updates;
      useful if you installed TeX Live from the DVD image and
      want to have continuing updates».

See the documentation in

      https://www.tug.org/texlive/doc/tlmgr.html
