Fortunately, Max is doing the binary stuff, too. Great to hear.

I am not sure you have been around like 15-20 years ago, but the context
in tex live and context in distribution is an **eternal** problem.
If you are interested, I can give you an mbox with uncountable emails
about it. In the end, practically everyone gave up. 
Thus, I hope that Max's approach will improve things for at least tex
live. For distributors (like Debian where I was involved for 20+ years),
it is still a cabinet of horror.
