MacTeX Install - Final Data Point

Setting the paper size only causes existing formats to be rebuilt as it executes fmtutil-sys with the —refresh option.

So, if the user has additional formats enabled in texmf-local (as I do), these won’t be built by the call to set the paper size in your preinstall script.

Of course, you could set the paper size and then call fmtutil-sys with the —-missing option to get cause the ones that aren’t in the install package to be built.
