Very odd pdfTeX output with tl2025

Actually that's an engine issue.

Using \listfiles with this example when typesetting with TL 2024 (good output) and TL 2025 (bad output), the files are exactly the same, in the same versions.

Typesetting with LuaLaTeX and XeLaTeX, the output is correct. It's only when using pdfLaTeX that the output is wrong.

So the problem comes with the engine, pdfTeX. This must be one of the changes between 1.40.26 and 1.40.27

I won't make a fool of myself by trying to guess which change. This is way beyond my area of competence.

Should I move this over to the pdfTeX list? I noticed Karl just reported a microtype-related problem
