Pause and resume TeX Live install

    Has the situation changed? Or will the installer, when restarted,
    automatically find what's downloaded already and only look for the rest?

As far as I know we haven't done anything specific for this (except for
retrying failed downloads at the end, as you saw). I would presume that
your os is suspending running processes when you close the lid, and
restarting them when you open it up again.
