Hi Bruno - thanks for checking.
There's also simpdftex, in texmf-dist/scripts/simpdftex, whose line 177
currently reads
distillerprog="ps2pdf -dCompatibilityLevel=1.5"
Ok, I guess we (I) should change that, unless you Mac people think it
would be problematic. I think you(pl.) are the only real users of it.
cachepic/cachepic.tlu (to 1.4, line 212) epstopdf/epstopdf.pl (to
1.5, lines 81, 491 and 741) texlogsieve/texlogsieve (mentions of
1.3, 1.5 and pdfminorversion=7, not sure this needs changing)
Needs to go upstream to the respective maintainers. Doubt it matters.
But speaking as the maintainer of epstopdf, I think it is better not to
change that one. The purpose of epstopdf is to create a pdf file that
will (almost always) be included in another document. If it creates
PDF-1.7 by default, the only outcome will be the likelihood of creating
warnings when people are generating output less than 1.7. I see no harm
in keeping it at 1.5. --thanks, karl.
