PDF version 1.7 by default?

Currently, I switch PDF 1.6 as the default when producing commercial books.

At least, recent applications, such as Microsoft Word/PowerPoint,
Apple Keynote, Adobe Illustrator and so on, output PDF 1.6.
If a novice includes those output PDFs as an image and uses PDF 1.5
(the current default PDF output),
the image may not be visible on the PDF.
