Bug with texlive under Linux

Solved thanks to a hint from you guys:

Downloaded and installed texinfo with texindex from gnu.org and followed 
INSTALL instructions and then went into folder tex-index and installed 
that via make.

All working again and no idea what caused the issue in the first place.
