To be clear, I expected


 > \test=macro:
-><size of file_1.tex>.
l.1 \edef\test{\pdffilesize{file_1.tex}}\show\test

?

l.2 \edef\test{\pdffilesize{file_1.tex }}\show\test

?
 > \test=macro:

l.2 \edef\test{\pdffilesize{"file_1.tex "}}\show\test

as I don't have the file with a space in the name.
