texdoctk category TLCore

Hi Johannes,

does texdoctk really need to be in category TLCore?

If I'm not forgetting something, the only thing the "Category" means is
which patterns are applied to generate the file list. This is invisible
to users. (It's defined via 00texlive.autopatterns.tlpsrc. For TLCore,
only doc files/man pages are automatically looked for.)

category TLCore does have a dependency on perl-tk.

So, I'm guessing what you want is some way to avoid installing texdoctk
so as not to have this dependency? Which is not part of TeX Live -- we
have no "perl-tk" package. Are you installing from a distro? That
doesn't seem likely, but what do I know :).

For native TL, what matters in terms of when a package is installed is
what collection it is part of. For texdoctk (and virtually all other
user-visible executables), that's collection-binextra. I don't see a
"lesser" alternative ... --best, karl.
