Apple/Safari being picky about redirects for CTAN mirrors

Hi,

I remember a different flavour of the problem being discussed recently
with respect to Chrome browsers & http/https.

Today I visited
    http://tug.org/mactex/mactex-unix-download.html
and tried to download
    http://mirror.ctan.org/systems/texlive/tlnet/install-tl-unx.tar.gz
on that page, which apparently redirected to
    ftp://ftp.gust.org.pl/TeX/systems/texlive/tlnet/install-tl-unx.tar.gz

But Safari greeted me with an error message:

The error is: "Redirection to URL with a schema that is not HTTP(S)"

Apparently redirecting http(s) to ftp will no longer be allowed for
security concerns.
