I fixed it by updating >tlmgr update -all  :-):-):-)

I am not so much into LaTeX to know what happens under the hood, and so I am
still a  little puzzled, but as long as it works, I am fine.

ps. I also created a file custom.sh under /etc/profile.d to define 

PATH=/usr/local/texlive/2019:/usr/local/texlive/2019/bin/x86_64-
linux:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/root/bin

but I a not sure it helped.
